This article is intended to
clarify the definition of SOA since various experts describe SOA and its
benefits differently. Because of this, there
is a need to move toward consistent definitions and a common understanding of
SOA.
Since SOA can mean many things
and can have various outcomes, many organizations start with a small project to
develop an appreciation how SOA can help move the business forward and make it
easier to achieve greater value from information resources. This is an
evolutionary strategy to leverage current information services and IT
infrastructure to improve business agility, deliver business advantages, and
generate a meaningful ROI.
