From a communications perspective, the family of advanced CAIL Connectivity Solutions have a number of capabilities that are well suited in the context of system testing. The CAIL CTT Software session can either run or monitor processes that operate on HP NonStop computers. Not only can the data streams be initiated and recorded, but they can be carefully choreographed with other software (from the browser to databases and spreadsheets) to create meaningful system tests. Specifically, CAIL Software can be implemented in many scenarios where testing records are required. This can be achieved by using a combination of tracing, log, .scr files, Visual Basic Scripting, Java, even custom COM or DDE clients. Many organizations use the recorded session feature to analyze sessions or the HLLAPI interface to engage session activity and Host data with DDE clients written in a variety of languages, sometimes recording data to PC based databases.
More recently, using COM and the multi-session capabilities of the new CAIL CTT Software, very complex orchestrations can be achieved, and rapidly implemented to evaluate an array of Host computer configurations. Running repeated tests in order to develop and analyze statistical data are best served by integrating with COM Clients such as Microsoft Access or Excel.
